I'm a girl, Im a female,

a walking double standard

I've been told I can lead,

but I got to watch my manners

After all no boy wants a girls who always talks in slang

and who gets more pay

Yea more pay then him!

As a female I can shine but its got to be dimmed

Yea its ok for me to compete, but not myself

For the eyes of a man

So he can pick me for his wife

And I'll have that ring on my hand

As if that's supoose to be a girl's biggest dream

I mean thats how america makes it seem

Perfect body, perfect waist, perfect structure, perfect face

All for a man that'll try to play me after a couple dates

But as long as his pockets got a little bread

Who am I to turn my head

I'm a girl, I'm a female a walkin double standard

Can't be my natural self in a world full of actors

Tv Shows, Magazines, lower are girls self esteems,

filling their head with notions on how they're suppose to be

But Imma girl,I got power

Under no man will I cower

I'll set the standard for myself

As I acquire all my wealth

I'm a girl, I am bold

Under no man will I fold

You gon see Im gon rise

Mama told me I'm the prize

So if your a feamle go ahead and strive

Dont't let unspoken rules to tell you how to live your life

Your a girl, You make the team

It's definitely not what it seems

Because a King is not a King

Without A Great Queen!

The author's comments:

This poem is about how females are heavily influenced, by the opinions of society and especially by the opinion of men to act a certain way or be a certain way. It's important for females to chase their dreams, be themselves, and show their potential without being worried about the views of other people. It's also important for women to shine in their own light and do what makes them happy, instead of doing things to impress men. It's best for women to just be the best they can be!
