My Last Song For You
Look, I know it's been over a year now,
Since I last tasted your lips, wow.
It just seems like it was yesterday,
We were sneaking around because we each had a bae.
And do you remember that time at the fair we had our Ferris Wheel kiss?
We finally crossed it off of our bucket list.
And I'm always thinking about you but you're not doing the same for me,
And you have no idea that I'm losing all this sleep.
Because I heard you got a new man and you're doing good,
You found that happiness, I always knew you would.
But what about me?
You can't toss me aside like I'm just some forgotten memory.
I guess we were never meant to be together, right?
How we always argued and it started a fight?
But I would call you up, I would take the blame,
Because seeing you in tears always injected me with pain.
But you finally found the one, your perfect half;
He's always surprising you and making you laugh.
I recall a time back when that my was job,
Seeing him take my place just makes me sob.
'Cause what about all those stuffed animals that I always bought?
For every month I was with you, damn, that's such a lot.
But there's one thing that I wouldn't do, I never did;
It was bringing you flowers like you always wanted.
He beat me too it though and won your affection,
So now all you throw to me is that rejection.
I'll never get that second chance,
Yet I'll always remember our first dance.
I would never dress up but I did it for you,
It was all worth it 'cause you looked like a beautiful goddess too.
And do you still wear that horse necklace I got you on our first Christmas spent together?
You called me cute for drawing your name in the snowy weather.
Yeah, and I remember meeting your family, they liked me,
But now they like him too, did they forget you and I were ever a we?
I've written a dozen songs for you without hesitation,
The good, the bad, and the ugly, you were always my inspiration.
You were the love of my life but now I'm through trying to pretend,
The chapter of us has finally come to an end.
And I won't say I hate you,
I won't say I love you.
But after you've read everything I've written,
I still won't say you're what I'm missing.
But here's my honesty and here's the truth;
This is my last song for you...
