Never Had A Thing
You can call my cell and leave a dozen voicemails on my line,
But I'm never returning one because you were never mine.
What we had was only good for that moment in time,
So maybe now you'll get a clue, understand the sign.
We can't be together, it's not working out,
And I know you'll say I'm just filled with all this doubt.
But I don't see us getting off the ground,
With no wings to fly, we're trapped where we are now.
We never had a thing,
That's what I think.
It was more like a fling,
We won't see the day it's stamped in ink.
So save yourself the misery,
Go and find someone else.
'Cause we never had a thing, you see,
I must've been in love with myself.
There's tears in your eyes,
But it's not much of a surprise.
It's known to happen with girls and their lies,
Just shrug it off and hope you relaize:
What we had could have been remarkable,
The way I held you, it was memorable.
I loved you down to every particle,
But now there's no love left in my arsenal.
We never had a thing,
That's what I think.
It was more like a fling,
We won't see the day it's stamped in ink.
So save yourself the misery,
Go and find someone else.
'Cause we never had a thing, you see,
I must've been in love with myself.
See, I put you first,
But things kept getting worse.
Now I'm stuck with this curse;
Of writing you a goodbye-verse.
We should have had this conversation a while back,
But you never had time for that.
So it's finally time for our little chat,
We were bright colors now we're an empty black.
We never had a thing,
That's what I think.
It was more like a fling,
We won't see the day it's stamped in ink.
So save yourself the misery,
Go and find someone else.
'Cause we never had a thing, you see,
I must've been in love with myself.
