Rayven
She lies in her room listening to Twenty Øne Piløts to keep herself at bay,
When she feels like giving up that's what gets her through the day.
The words are more than lyrics, they're inspiration;
Leaving her with the hope she needs to beat this depression.
She thinks of her life as an American Horror Story like the TV show,
But their ratings are high above while hers is falling below.
Her mind is going black, she doesn't know what to think,
Her heart is blue and purple as it begins to sink.
She comes to me and I lend a helping hand,
Recite my words gently and slowly so she'll understand.
I said, "Do what you want and just be yourself,
Screw all the haters and forget everyone else.
They're only jealous of what you can be,
You have potential they will never see.
And delete the self-harm out of your head,
You're so beautiful, don't be mislead.
Let me be your strength, your hope;
I'll be your shining sun and we can find you a way to cope.
'Cause always remember, you're more than enough,
So never give up..."
She writes poetry searching for an escape,
Plotting a way out before it's too late.
And when the moon appears she enjoys going for a walk,
So her conscience and her can have a little talk.
About liars, and the two-faced people she's met,
How she should push through life and just forget.
She barely gets sleep, all she wants is for someone to hear,
Her silent cry for help, to relinquish her fear.
I asked to her look in the mirror and stare at her reflection,
That image is gorgeous, and you're the definition.
I said, "Do what you want and just be yourself,
Screw all the haters and forget everyone else.
They're only jealous of what you can be,
You have potential they will never see.
And delete the self-harm out of your head,
You're so beautiful, don't be mislead.
Let me be your strength, your hope;
I'll be your shining sun and we can find you a way to cope.
'Cause always remember, you're more than enough,
So never give up..."
Now go, stop, multiply,
She says all everyone ever does is lie.
Her biggest fear is that everybody will leave,
I said, "Sweetheart, that won't happen with me."
It's hard not to care, 'cause she cares a little too much,
And whenever she's alone, there's not a single person to touch.
Well, I'm here to tell you things are about to be different,
I'ma open your mind to a new way of livin'.
So dry your eyes and put down that knife,
It's time we open up to you a whole new stage of life.
I said, "Do what you want and just be yourself,
Screw all the haters and forget everyone else.
They're only jealous of what you can be,
You have potential they will never see.
And delete the self-harm out of your head,
You're so beautiful, don't be mislead.
Let me be your strength, your hope;
I'll be your shining sun and we can find you a way to cope.
'Cause always remember, you're more than enough,
So never give up..."
I wrote this for my friend Rayven who is suffering from self-harm and depression.
