The Christmas Eve Box
Tis Christmas Eve and eager children wait
The Christmas boxes wrapped perfectly
Silky wrapping paper ready for its fate
Bright photographs of my sister and me
Paper rockets up to the pale-lit moon
Boxes full of goodies to eat and wear
Preparing for Christmas presents soon
Adorable sweaters soft as a bear
Sunny smiles plastered on all of our faces
We chuckle till our ribs burn with anguish
Love and joy swamp the surrounding spaces
Any disappointment is bravely vanquished
We call our friends to share our exciting gifts
Family calls us and we talk for hours
We watch Christmas movies and our souls lift
Eating scrumptious desserts that we devour
Then we go to sleep, Christmas in my dreams
Glad to be apart of my family team
