The flowers on my arm.

The ones she brought to life,

Her vision as narrow as a straw.

Encrypted messages of

Pink, green and blue.

Exchanged buttery oil paints

For my Crayola watercolors

All for little Cays.

“Love and Kisses” she would write to me,

Now, her beauty drilled onto me forever.

She loves me,

She misses me,

I do too, but I see her here,

The flowers on my arm.

The author's comments:

This piece is about the tattoo I got of a watercolor painting that my great grandmother did with me when I was younger. My grandmother was almost blind, but she painted a beautiful flower bouquet. I kept all of her cards she would send me, and she would always finish her letter with "love and kisses, GG", so I added 'love' in her handwriting to the tattoo as well. She passed away when I was probably 12 or 13 years old, and I've been planning this tattoo for years in her honor.
