Golden yellow with splashes of brownish red;
Autumn’s blessing bestowed on greenery,
Fall foreshadows fates of leaves soon dead.
The end of life provides sweet scenery.
A single corpse wafts through the nighttime sky;
It is not missed by family or friends.
All leaves die so no need to say goodbye,
They simultaneously meet their ends.
Leaf, floating on the wings of destiny,
It, with a ripple, lands on gilded stream;
Little leaf’s possibilities so many.
Before its death, leaf’s journeys were but dream.
Bound to tree in life, only in death freed;
In its dreams the little leaf did succeed.

The author's comments:
I was inspired by this autumn tree outside my classroom window. At the time, I was very lonely and sad so I decided to write this melancholy Shakespearean sonnet. People who read this should realize that no matter how far fetched their dreams are, it's never to late to achieve them.

Thanks! I was thinking "deep" when I wrote it but I read it later and thought "cheesy." It means a lot that some stranger would like it. :)

this is really good. I like your comparison of the lost or dead souls to the leaves. I love it.
