Enlisted
I walked up to the station
Ready for war
Ready to fight
For rich and for poor
I got in my suit
And pulled out my gun
I knew, I knew,
This is why I’d come.
The hatch opened quickly
The first few fell out
The rest of us ran
The bomb screams so loud!
Valiantly we fought
Through sand and trenches
We thought we’d be the last
Of each of those wenches!
In the mist of the battle
(We were close to winning)
A gunshot rang out
My head was spinning
I woke up two weeks later
The battle we had won.
But I was heavily crippled
It seemed my career was done
I had been so ready
So ready to fight
Gun at the shoulder
Just felt so right
But shot through the spine
My life put at risked
I didn’t expect that
When I enlisted
