Sonnet in Red
Red is a songbird singing out with praise.
Red’s blood: liquid life to keep me alive.
Red is sweet fruit: all I want to survive.
Red is fire, a warm protecting blaze.
Red is a ruby, precious and so rare.
Red is desire: love that’s so intense.
Red is power: commanding guidance.
Red’s a rose; beauty that cannot compare.
Red is blazing sun bright’ning from above.
Red is ladybugs’ beauty on parade.
Red’s a gorgeous fish or stunning mermaid.
Red is the heart: symbol of human love.
Red’s the splendor and awe of all I’ve said
Because you, my dear, are the color red.
