To My Angel
I remember the first day I saw you
Radiant sunlight in your hazel eyes
Now this sickening feeling turned to rue
Try to forget my promises and lies
I spent my youth in your joyful presence
Your wagging tail filled me up with great glee
Always with an air of benevolence
You were much more than I could ever see
I told you that I loved you every day
And promised to spend more time together
But what are such words when actions betray
You have already left me forever
And now it is too late to tell you the truth
No dog like you lived, I deserve reproof.
