The high moon dulled by the glorious sun
Behind bright stars thou sublime beauty lies
Hidden under the darkness that they shun
None to radiant for a maiden's eye
Nor doth your light lack a fair lady's grace
The vast sky remains when thou art changed
For thy soft crest bears Lady Diane's face
Lovers vows beneath thou sight art ranged
Be it night that Romeo's promise rang so true
With charming words he so boldly declared
And Juliet, whose oath to her love grew
Thy gentle night protects what they shared
As the sun is glorious and so praised
When it sets, the vibrant moon shall be raised
