4th of July
The excitement from the earlier parade
dies down as we set up for the picnic.
We chat lively as we eat, laugh and trade
stories that carry a certain magic.
The family bonds over the cookout
while the glasses clink and the meat sizzles.
‘Round the table not a trace of a pout,
not even as it begins to drizzle.
The main attraction comes when fireworks
explode, we finally know it’s July
as we watch in amazement at the artwork
brilliantly lighting up the night sky.
Such a beautiful time for family
as we all sit in a glorious glee.
