A High School Football Game
His muscles were taught, his face was intense.
He twisted and dodged right through their defense.
He sprinted like mad, clutched onto the ball,
He held nothing back, he gave it his all.
He streaked through the end zone, stealing the game.
The crowd was elated, screaming his name.
A fierce joy surged through him, making him beam.
His helmet in hand, he ran to his team,
Who roughly embraced him, hugging him tight.
Their victory yells rang out in the night.
Then the whole world stood still, with him at the top.
He never wanted this feeling to stop.
He’d played his hardest, for all he was worth,
Just for that moment on top of the earth.
