On Inhumanity
I wish that inhumanity
Would my soul interlace
Then blessed could my actions be
As all my fear displace
I beg my heart to be cut out
That I might never feel
And so to emptiness devout
I might in freedom kneel
For by the roots of empathy
Do weakness and shame lie
So does the voice of dignity
Call all our souls to die
And be of all blame, quite disposed
That our regret might be transposed
