To wish to be someone else is to waste the person you are.

Off course rough winds have taken me at sea
The compass that was innocence shattered
So were the waters calm, naïveté
But now the eye of Growth halts not- gathers

This lasting tempest of maturity
Disguised by lying winds of adulthood
Brings forth the youth belied by fantasy
Crushes the deck then snaps the masts for good

And so submerged halfway by failure’s sea
A wrecked captain has but a raft to claim
Clung to a plank of wood—buoyant mercy
Coriolis might bring this man his aim

I pray Emancipation’s launch need not
For now I know I will have to undock

Growing up is definitely a rant-worthy topic. The 1st and 3rd lines of every quatrain share the same rhyme scheme. Not sure if that's allowed, but creativity is demanding. Very demanding.
