No Right Way to Say Goodbye
Tears feel like razorblades against my cheeks,
seeing you like this makes me weak.
There are so many things I need to say,
but you’ll be gone by the turn of day.
Words are mumbled from your airy breath,
telling me not to mourn your death.
You told me to fill my world with joy,
and that you won’t be the only boy.
“It’s not over” I tried to tell you,
but of course you said “you know it’s true”.
“I will always be with you” you said to me,
and then I watched your spirit go free.
I held your lifeless body once more,
and saw you lost your internal war.
