Ode to Spring
My skin detects a change of atmosphere
The sun cheers up; it soon begins to smile
It changes from a distant, icy sphere
Into a friend who’s just been gone a while
The soil which was unkind and bitter cold
Is welcoming new life with open arms
The tulips burst swiftly, their leaves unfold
And birds with backs of blue whistle their charms
The lake was once a shining plate of glass
And trapped beneath the weary creatures slept
But now its restless surface teems with bass
Their eyes are wide from winter’s secrets kept
A fine display of nature’s magic traits
As spring moves on to summer, winter waits
