Within The Fords Theater
A man so helpful, never done too much wrong
Step foot in to a show, soon to see his end.
Not a bad thought in mind, but a bad plan instead.
It was 1865, and his toil actions served his country well.
But it seemed as though there was one man who strongly disagreed.
This man in disagreement is known as John Wilkes Booth
Also the man to bring Abraham to his end.
Through the windows-through the doors-burst like a
ruthless force
Sentences broken, gunshot wound in the breast
Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead
The darkness lit by spots of kindled fire, the silence,
Like a phantom far or near an occasional figure moving.
On April 14th a show was to be put on
Enter into the Fords Theater to be introduced to some laughs.
Our American Cousin was the show set to see.
Also the last laugh to come, out the mouth of Lincoln.
Two couples join together for a night on the town.
Abe Lincoln and his wife, with comrade Major Rathbone and Fiancée.
A night so great, soon to be the last.
Through the windows-through the doors-burst like a
ruthless force
Sentences broken, gunshot wound in the breast
Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead
The darkness lit by spots of kindled fire, the silence,
Like a phantom far or near an occasional figure moving.
Importance is key, brings the president privacy.
A private booth built for four was where they all sat.
Ready for laughs, not a gunshot or artillery.
The theater was beautiful, but not the events to come.
For while the show went on, Wilkes Booth tip toed in.
Arriving into the room, to commit the sin of assassination.
Even with the guards surrounding the building, a murder took place.
