&quot; Why not stand in the fork in the road and let my mind create the storys untold&quot;<br /> -- Rachel Scott

As I walk down this lonely narrow hallway
Passing all of the happy people
I put on my mask to fool everyone all day
It is not sad not even a tad; for it was made in a steeple

I made this mask as a young boy
When I could talk to neither mom nor dad
I learned to use it as my greatest toy
To fool everyone; to never let anyone know my day was bad

Now this mask is my greatest ally
But also it is my worst enemy
I’ll tell you why, shall I?
I use this mask when someone around me is more content than me

This mask makes everyone think I’m always elated
But that couldn’t be more far from the truth.
The fact that I’m happy is misconstrued
I’m hanging on by a thread, as loose as a baby tooth.

What inspired me to right this piece is "Rachel's Challenge." They came to my school to tell us the story of Rachel, and how anyone could be wearing a "Mask" at anytime. Anyone could be holding by a thread, and that's why we shouldn't judge others, or "Pick" on them because there a little different. Different in my opinion is good.
