The Christmas Gift
Her long, golden hair and those big brown eyes,
All the loving messages she would send
Would lead to some unbreakable ties,
And a friendship that would never end.
I had waited forever for this day,
And prayed every night since I was eight.
But when it came true I had nothing to say,
Because I had realized this was my fate.
When she came through the door the first time,
I did a double take and looked back twice.
I stood with my mouth open like a mime.
This gift was a miracle, not just nice.
It was that special morning on Christmas Day,
I got my dog Molly and no longer had to pray.
