Can't Run, Can't Hide
Embracing freedom, they floated midair
And allowed the wind to swish them away.
The girl looked on as she drowned in despair
A captive of memory she would stay.
“Grieve not the past for the future awaits”
Are great words of wisdom passed to mankind.
But…another saying brings up debate.
“The past defines who you are,” it reminds.
Despite her futile efforts, she can’t run,
Cannot dismiss the chaos nor the pain.
Her guilt is as persistent as the sun
On earth’s terrain. It’s harsh. But never wanes.
But no matter, she thinks. She will heed time.
She’ll bear the pain for others for the crime.
