A Sun's Salutation
Forbidden lovers, the Sun and Moon dance,
Keeping just out of sight, growing lonely,
So far from each other, a wide expanse
They sadly sigh, “If only, if only…”
“If only we could have some time,” purred Moon,
“To reward our love that is enduring.”
“Let us meet,” murmured Sun, “halfway through June,
For a lunar eclipse most alluring.”
In that moment, they are reunited,
Sun and Moon align, tenderly kissing,
Together at last, their love ignited,
To the world it seems the Sun is missing,
After one last kiss and a sweet embrace,
Sun and Moon part and float on into space.
