Addiction
Addiction runs in my family but I’ll never be a part of it.
That stuff is crazy.
And my grandpa, he started it.
Spiking his coffee every morning.
Walk in the bathroom, see tin foil and black scuffs on the walls.
I ask my brother about it.
He just stares at me and stalls.
Eyes dialated.
Try to have a conversation, but he’s trippin.
Heroin’s a terrible drug.
When he told me he did it I could feel my heart breakin and rippin.
He was my role model.
My brother, my best friend.
He’s better now.
But sometimes, I like to pretend. As If he never started.
The sad fact is, he did.
