Imperfection
Sometimes, I think, I have outgrown my friends
Or rather, it was they who outgrew me.
But I know I have changed too much to see
Why with them I once felt joy without end.
Hating the conflict of quarrels I bend,
A tree in wind – let it pass! Let me be.
All bark and leaves, to my thoughts there’s no key
Though Breeze sings my sorrow, I do not mend.
Perhaps what some love best are contradictions.
They do what they want though they know it’s not right.
What they really think, they never can say.
When disproven, they ignore past convictions
And wonder with eyes closed, where goes their sight?
And why should a Fall like me ever glimpse May?
