Am I Awake?
I lay motionless on the cold white bed
Observing the frantic motion that surrounds me as I wait
My life is no longer one to dread
For now mere mortals conclude my fate
I remain not alone in this chasm of sorrow
With loving one's faces engulfed in tears
From which the life I had yesterday I wish to borrow
Though all those around know death is pondering near
As last occurring memories soon surround me as I die
The cherishing moments of joy and glee gather upon my broken bones
Though struggling to breathe I cannot bear a single tear to cry
For I leave this world a legacy built on sticks and stones.
Life a stick of dynamite in a field of lava and fire
Fruitful and alive such a miracle to admire
