The Long Run
I push on through the everglades waiting
For every breath is full of endless gasps,
As each stride moves on my heart's deflating,
Tears burn through the pain of sharp stabbing rasps.
Every puff of air is a dry-less bone,
My mouth desirable for just one drop,
Like angle kiss spews from a water cone
Sending little trickles off of a mop.
I longed to drop limp in the grassy sand
To only feel the crisp air winding through,
But I was stuck to run this endless land
Where little areas filled with some wet dew
Soon to be the end to home, where hotter,
I have ran hundred miles wanting water.
