Mornings Are Best on the Rooftop
The sun explodes over its horizon
Color splashes against my soft pink walls
It lights up my room and mars my vision
The birds are nothing. So far up, so small
I kneel on my bed and lift up the screen
With my Nikon in my pocket, I crawl
The flowers bloom, the grass is vibrant green
The wind chills me as I try not to fall
Forever wouldn’t be enough time here
Atop this roof, trees engulfing my thoughts
Lost are my insecurities and fears
Found are the dreams and promises I sought
I raise my camera before the chance rots
Clicking the button for a perfect shot
