You Again
You told me to jump.
I said "How High?"
When I was with you,
I felt like I could fly
To somewhere safe
Somewhere far away
Because in your arms
Was where I always wanted to stay.
But when you hold me now,
Your arms feel unfamiliar
And It took me a while
To know the reason much clearer.
You're cocky now
Just like my ex
And I definitely don't have the heart
To go through that again.
So tell me now,
And tell me the truth
Because you owe me that much
Since I can't keep anything from you.
Is the guy I used to love
Really out of sight?
Or is he in the darkness
Waiting for some light?
To shine bright
Right into his face
With the love that could never ever
Have been replaced?
Or was it just an illusion
Masked by my confusion
Of whether or not your feelings
Were fake or real?
Or is your heart sculpted with metal and steel
After I opened a wound
That refuses to heal?
Although you claim
That you have forgiven me,
For some reason, in my mind,
It's hard to believe.
Because I used to know you
From the inside and out.
But, now all I can do
Is sit here a doubt.
To be honest,
I miss the guy that you made flee.
His love had hit the core
And he held the key
To my heart.
And hopefully,
I can read you this poem
And he'll come back to me.
