"Just a Dream"
You are nothing more than a gift to me
Entering my life as a warming light
When we converse over what is to be
I pray you are the one I’ll see each night
The words you speak are foreign to my mind
No one has made me feel so important
Angels like you are difficult to find
The happiness you bring is triumphant
But death looms over us like a shadow
He threatens to take you all for himself
Plaguing you with cancer you soon must go
And I shall return my heart to the shelf
Feeling this joy would require a dream
But not all are as sweet as they first seem.
