The man had never vexed me, just his eye
The vulture eye, a pale blue like the sky
It filled me with a sense of rising doom
That meant I must commit it to the tomb
For seven nights I peered upon the eye
And on the eighth his beating heart did die
And underneath the floorboards was entombed

But then I heard a sound that made me scream
The beating of that wretched heart forebode
Admission of that ghastly act I tried
