The tides of the sunken ships lost at sea
The tides of the sunken ships lost at sea
The soldiers who took a deep vow and swore
Their allegiance to our great country be
As memories creep along the frayed shore
We drown ourselves in their saddened sorrow
6 months have slipped away, and then a year
Hoping that they will return tomorrow
But it’s the unknowingness that we fear
Stark stone memorials have long been built
Overgrown with wild flowers and spreading weeds
Bringing us hollowed regret and sharp guilt
Wondering, was this the price of their deeds
By now, we ourselves bury deep and tuck
As our reservoirs drip dry out of luck
