My One True Love
Some say love is blind; I can say it’s not.
The first time you see it, you’ll understand,
Tripping over air and being distraught.
Pulled from shore, trying to get back on land.
When I see my one true love, I won’t wait
To run and grab from supermarket stock.
This may be extortion, but a soul-mate
Is eternal, sealed with air-tight Ziploc™.
I have to confess, this cannot be right
One a human, one a hazelnut spread
The two month shelf life, made upon to spite.
My true love is good plain, but best on bread.
We’re a pair like rain and an umbrella,
The jar’s done, but I’ll still love Nutella.
