When the Pen Cracks
When it is my turn to speak I’m not heard
When I write my pen shatters and crumbles.
Silence soars in my life like a black bird.
As I try to voice myself I stumble.
Silence wraps itself in utter darkness.
Dragging me with it to its dark haven.
In my bones I have strength to be harnessed.
Forever shall I befriend the raven.
Yet now all the dark withers, to subside.
Headstrong, to the end I will carry on.
I am no longer darkness’s shy bride.
For I used to be a vain, hollow pawn.
Look out here is the new me, here to stay.
I blow the dark ashes into the bay.
