Sonnet 1776
Spirit! Draw me forth onto her land; home,
Away; unbroken promise with her soul.
Awoken enchanted slumber to roam
Before the poppy meadows shall I stroll.
Celestial, her eyes shining sea to sea;
Strung high, frolicing, woven with fine silk
To sing the song (mellifluous). We’re free.
Born are we within this splendid ilk;
Alike, her being has brought, is it not?
It is how diverse her children consume,
Her ingredients within her stew sought,
Yet variety sets her drapes abloom.
Upon her territory, freedom bound,
United her dwellers stand, freedom found.
