Thoughts About Rain
The summer clouds grow dark as if with night
The leaves from trees outside the window sway
The rain pours down and darkness drains the light
It taps on windows easing days of grey
The sound surrounds and calms the darkest dreams
With shadows running frightful of the sound
In homes we sleep as waters race to streams
The water pooling sinking to the ground
Though people run and curse the dreaded rain
They soon forget the wondrous life it brings
When morning comes they'll wish for sun again
Forgetting clouds they wish for flight and wings
Yet I will wait for clouds to come once more
And listen to water drip and roar.
