Summer's Day
I wish to be back where the waves would crash.
Where copper tint would glow off skin in heat.
To see the sun glare as the children splash.
Where sand engulfs my toes and buries feet.
I want to see the clouds retreat from skies.
To feel the rush of water while fish swim.
The smell of salty air and warm french fries.
The force of ev’ry wave upon each limb.
The pink on cheeks of those the sun has kissed.
The pelicans that awed me with their flight.
The cool breeze from the nearby ocean mist.
The way the stars shone brightly in the night.
I reminisce on each radiant ray,
The beauty of a well-spent summer’s day.
