Sacramento My Home
Sacramento, the city of trees, beautiful homes and a lot of opportunities. Every morning I wake up to a view of a peaceful, clean neighborhood. I go downstairs to our lovely neighbors who have brought us homemade cookies. I’m getting ready to go to school and i’m getting a ride from my friend. As we drive I see my neighbors nice cut lawns and hanging out on their porch. The big and beautiful trees covering the streets with shade and sun rays passing through it. Since people here make around $80,000 dollars annually, we have up to date cars and eat in the fanciest restaurants. On weekends we go to old sacramento and visit the museums, we see the horse carriages, the tower bridge and the park beside the river and the restaurants in boats.
Even though the sacramento I described to you seems amazing, here is the reality. I live on 69th avenue in a one story house with my mom, grandma, three siblings and my uncle. Some days I wake up to a quiet street and other times I wake up to the sound of gunshots or sirens rushing down the street. When I go outside I get the fresh smell of weed that my neighbors have been smoking in their car parked on the sidewalk. I get ready to go to a school where fights are pretty common. After my mom drops us off at school she goes to a job where she makes about $20 an hour as a receptionist. She cant miss any days because ends won’t meet. After school I have to walk back to my house which is about 20 minutes away. On my way I pass by young children walking home alone. I also get to walk by the nice side of the neighborhood which have nice green cut lawns and big two story houses. They must get paid good money or be in debt for life. Sometimes on the weekends we go out to eat to places like panda express or in-n-out. We used to go to old sacramento but we got bored of seeing the same things; the big buildings, the bridge and the homeless people living under the bridge with a bunch of trash surrounding it. I barely get to see people on my street because they stay in their houses all day which is reasonable if you don’t like the smell of weed or burnt tire from people doing donuts at the corner.
Overall, to me, Sacramento is not too bad because I was born and grew up here. This city is very diverse and people won’t judge you on religion or race. If you move here you’ll either come over with good money and live in neighborhoods live River Park or you will have something to get used to.
