In the November 2013 issue of Teen Ink, Arianna amazed me with her comparisons about life in her article “Semicolon.”
I fully agree with Arianna. Nobody knows why we are here and we will probably never know. However, we can choose to do whatever we want with our lives. Throughout life, some of us may stray down a wrong path or make mistakes. When Arianna compares this part of life to fixing a sentence, it made me wonder why I had never thought of the comparison before because it made perfect sense. When writing a sentence, you can change the meaning of the sentence with one simple punctuation mark much like changing your life. A wrong path in life can always be fixed just like punctuating a sentence. Many people do not realize that they can change their life as easily as they can put a comma in a compound sentence. Arianna addressed a very common problem in teen’s lives today. Some teens don’t know what to do when life doesn’t go there way but as Arianna stated it can easily be fixed if you take the initiative to fix it, like a compound sentence. Arianna’s comparisons were spot on.
