Capone
Al Capone is a very fascinating biography. It starts off showing how Al Capone decided to come to America and where he grew up and it nicely transitions to more information about his family. Though he was looking for a job as a butcher, he could not find any work as a butcher so he decided to become a barber. He soon started getting involved with crime shortly after his father died. He needed a good paying job and fast. He started working for Frankie Yale as a bouncer which lead him to meet Johnny Torrio. This lead to Al Capone becoming the successor of Johnny Torrio.
He soon realized there was a opportunity to get higher in the ranks of Yale’s gang and he went for the opportunity as soon as he could. “ Al Capone was the pinnacle of his criminal” (Capone 38). This shows the rise of Al Capone and the work he had to go through. I love the aspect of how they are explaining so seriously how Al Capone grew.
The way the book progresses has a very detailed description of how Al Capone ran his business and how he was so frightening yet so popular. Many people had lots of interest in Capone“The public’s fascination with Al Capone”(Capone 150). More and more people were starting to get interested in Al Capone’s life
which was bad for Capone. He had evaded paying taxes and was soon caught so he decided to go on the run from the law and his downfall was coming soon.
As the book progresses, it makes you feel like you can feel what Al Capone is feeling through the great detail and depth to the book. You can start to feel how others were feeling as much as how Capone was feeling. The author really starts to make you interested in the story by telling many facts many people would struggle to find on the internet. For example, Al Capone only considered his first child to be his.
When you are finished with the book you will be satisfied with great facts and details about Capone’s life. He is considered a legend in many people’s heads. I encourage many to start to read the book and know the life of a former crime boss.
