Calling horror fans everywhere! If you are looking for a spooky book to read, The Old Willis Place would be perfect for you! This bone-chilling story is about a girl, Diana, and her little brother, Georgie, who hang around an old house. Year after year, they watch boring old caretakers come and go. One day, somebody new comes and Diana is excited. It’s a girl her age and Diana will finally be able to have a friend…until somebody else comes.

In all honesty, I personally don’t like horror novels. They are scary and don’t have the nice character development and settings I prefer to read about.  I’m more of a romance and fantasy kind of person but I made an exception for this story. It’s quite short and from the very beginning, I knew I had a guess of what Diana and Georgie truly were.

In some portions of the story, I was furious at the characters. Other parts, I was rooting for them the whole time. I’m going to be honest and tell you that I shed a couple of tears. The writing is phenomenal and created a very memorable story. The characters were written well and showed emotion and you knew who was talking in each sentence.

On a scale of one to ten, I’m going to give it a solid six. It was a little too short for my liking and I wasn’t a fan of the predictable moments here and there. At the beginning, I knew what was going to happen to the characters. Throughout the story, I loved the vivid setting and how Dianas character developed over the course of the story. Even if you don’t like horror, I highly recommend The Old Willis Place.  This novel is perfect for anybody who wants to get into reading, who doesn’t have a lot of time to read, or just wants a spooky tale.

I read this book for a competition and I had such conflicted feelings about it, I knew I had to write a review. Please let me know if you feel the same or differently. I would love to hear your opinions!
