The story of Helen Keller was very touching. In the story of Helen Keller's life, I learned many things I didn't know. I learned that before she was 1, she wasn't blind. I also learned that she was a very intelligent woman.

 In her biography, Helen used vocabulary words such as ennui, poignancy, tedious, disposition, bewilderment, soughing, multitudinous, pinafore, and foraminifera. Some of these words seemed strange to me. I learned these words were prevalent when she wrote her book but are not so popular today.

Sometimes, Keller's writing becomes tiresome, especially when she talks about one topic, for example, in chapters 11 and 12, where Helen talks about how it was autumn and she had just returned to her home in the South. Chapter 12 talks about her first trip to Boston.

There were many quotes from The Story of My Life, but my favorite one was on page 10, "Knowledge is love and light and vision." I found this quote well-written since it is valid in all ways. The selection means understanding the plight of fellow human beings and striving to help them in any way possible. I thought it was interesting since not many people use their knowledge to love, especially people with disabilities, which is sad. 

I like the character development in this book. It tells you many things you didn't know about Helen's life. Helen's story changed drastically after she was blind. She was outraged because she couldn't understand the world and communicate with others. With the help of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, her actions helped change her outlook on life. She became a great reader and could attend college despite being blind.

Another quote I liked in The Story of My Life was, "It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his track of ennui." This quote strikes me since it is trying to tell you to stop fighting with others you love and use the same amount of energy loving others.

The story of Helen Keller is a fascinating book. I approve of this book so much that I will request my friends to read the story of Helen Keller. This book inspires anyone who may have to overcome obstacles in their life.
