The Demonata by Darren Shan
For lovers of horror and the supernatural The Demonata series will leave you breathless, amazed and begging for more. Each of the books describe characters who discover they possess powerful magic and are forced to use it to fight demons that want to destroy them. All the stories are connected to the demon master Lord Loss, whose only desire is to wreak havoc and leech off the suffering of others. Be warned, however, that this is not a series for those with weak stomachs. The descriptions of the demons are quite grotesque. “Pale red skin covered in smears of blood that oozes from a system of cracks in his flesh.”
The characters' personalities are well-developed making them seem more realistic and much more exciting to read about. The plots are full of twists leaving you guessing at every turn and unable to stop reading. This is one of the best series I have ever read, and with a master like Darren Shan, author of the NY Times bestseller series “Cirque du Freak, it's no surprise.
