Overlord is a movie revolving around a troop of American soldiers traveling to France during World War II. The group flies to Europe on the eve of D-Day, except things immediately don't go as planned. Almost as soon as they get to the country of France, they begin to get attacked, and before the group even hits the ground, members are shot down and die. Due to the various attacks, the group executes an energy landing, causing the large group to be withered down to seemingly only one member in a soldier named Boyce. Boyce finds himself nearly drowning after the crash, and after he quickly rescues himself, he soon discovers another member, a weapons expert, who eventually leads them along until they find a few others. Even though it seems like there are only a few members left, they still decide to continue the mission, which is to go to a church and destroy a radio transmitter on top of it, which would help allow other troops to march into France and help the fighting cause. As they attempt to approach their target, they decide to camp out at a small French village that just happens to be occupied by Nazis. While there, they soon realize that this is so much more than just a simple military operation. As they begin to spend more time and look at the facts, they soon realize that some weird things are going on, and as they start to get closer to destroying the radio transmitter, they discover that there is an underground laboratory that has been creating strange serums for a weird experiment. The soldiers must soon face a zombie army, causing them to realize that they really have no idea what they are getting themselves into. 
 Overlord proves to be an action-packed adventure that combines horror elements with World War II. The beginning of the movie does a fairly good job of jump-starting the entire roller coaster, and it successfully introduces audiences to the film's setting and all of the different characters. The middle portion of the movie does a marvelous job of progressing things along and has a healthy combination of slow suspense with dramatic speed to create some moments that are sure to keep the adrenaline pumping. The enticing ending of the movie proves to be violent and entertaining and will certainly not disappoint. This conclusion helps to make the movie feel that much more cohesive and is able to unite the entire movie together, helping to make the whole story make so much more sense. 
 Overlord greatly benefits from having some truly astounding visuals that are able to bring all of the movie's ideas and concepts to life. The movie has outstandingly vivid visual effects that are a major factor in causing all of the zombies to look realistic and make audiences feel like they are soldiers in World War II as well. The spectacular special effects are crucial to the movie being able to conjure up more suspense and drama, as well as make the movie far more intense. Without the visuals, the zombies could've come across as being unrealistic and unnecessary, but thankfully for the movie, this is not the case. 

 Not only do viewers enjoy Overlord, but critics were also satisfied. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie an impressive 80%, which is just as noteworthy as it seems, and a whopping 90% of Google users liked the movie, demonstrating that a wide variety of audiences were entertained by the movie. 

 Overlord is a well done film that combines thrills with suspense and drama to create a movie that has elements of horror. While the movie may not be for everyone, due to its occasionally excruciating violence and brutal visuals, it definitely has it own distinct feel. It may not be perfect, but it definitely has its strengths.
