It’s early in the morning, the sun is shining, and the temperature is rising. Slowly soaking it all in until realizing, it’s a Wednesday. Going to school while being inside, cramped, and tiresome sounds horrific. Until suddenly, a fever hits and my hands start to feel clammy. Looks like school is out of the picture, what a shame. A day like this shouldn’t be wasted taking that test or reviewing that homework anyway. Ferris Bueller agrees, and would love to share the story of his day off in the sensational movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”.

The actors in this movie all did a phenomenal job of playing their characters. Ferris Bueller is the main character played by Matthew Broderick. He is witty, funny, and an avid risk-taker as portrayed in the film. His partners in crime Sloane and Cameron are played by Mia Sara and Alan Rucke. They follow Ferris along on his adventure as his best friend and girlfriend; adding to the film with Cameron’s rule-following and Sloane’s go-for-it mentality. This friend group is unstoppable and gave me everything I could wish for and more when watching. Although they do have an obstacle in their way, the dean of students at their school. Played by Jeffrey Jones, Rooney (dean of students) is determined to catch Ferris skipping school and is willing to go to the extremes to do it. Giving the movie a wonderful antagonist. These actor’s skills shouldn’t be questioned, they were very entertaining and kept me engaged the whole film.

Not only were the characters great, but the plot was exceptional as well. Keeping me laughing and intrigued the whole film. More serious and big events were balanced very well with lighthearted moments. These events could differ from “borrowing a Ferrari” to dancing in a parade. Moments like these are filled with excitement, but also kept me guessing what would happen next. The main idea consists of Rooney running around Chicago trying to catch Ferris in the act of skipping school. They both go through many obstacles as well making it all the more entertaining. This could be Ferris dodging his parents at lunch or Rooney accusing the wrong girl of Ferris’s actions. All the encounters in this movie were hilarious, but the dialogue highlighted the movie.

The most impressive thing in this movie is the dialogue. Capturing teenager's mentality and conversations very well and managing to also keep me laughing with amazing jokes. Throughout the movie, almost everything was humorous; whether it was Ferris and Cameron calling Rooney or Jeanie (Ferris’s sister) trying to prove a point. There weren't any boring encounters or conversations, only things that added to the movie. Including the comedy of each individual character, although the characters were very different when together they made for a funny trio. Bouncing jokes off of each other the whole movie, just making it more enjoyable. Comedy highlighted the movie, but they also did a wonderful job in more serious scenes. Capturing the awkwardness of teenagers in situations they can’t relate to. Which made the movie more authentic as well.

After watching this movie with the amazing characters, plot, and dialogue, Ferris has definitely convinced me I deserve a day off. I mean look outside how could I waste a day like this? “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is definitely one of my favorite movies and an easy rewatch. Not only is this movie entertaining, but it’s also a reminder to enjoy life and have fun. I would easily recommend this movie to anyone that is down for a good time and loves comedies.
