Being watched is something that lots of people wonder about. “Am I being watched?” “Is someone watching me?” they say. Well The Truman Show does just that, taking the idea of being watched and turning it into a one of a kind film. The Truman show is about a young man named Truman who is watched by many people around the world. Broadcasted live just for their own entertainment. Turning his life into a tv show. I enjoy this concept of a movie, I have thought of the idea but not enough thinking there to be a movie about it. And the execution is beyond incredible. I was amazed at the writing and how the story later unfolds, revealing more information and more things about the whole movie. After watching this movie I believe that there can be so many more movies with other random wonders in our life.

The Truman Show is about a man who is watched by millions of people worldwide. And the way Jim Carrey portrays Truman is great, turning him into a goody, light hearted person who always has a smile with his iconic catchphrase “Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!” Such a great fit for a character. As previously mentioned Truman is being watched and later begins to realize what's truly going on around him. When watching this I thought of the question “What will he do?” The theme of this movie is a satire which fits as it first begins to be more of a comedy but later the movie tends to progressively get more serious and focus more on the story, but not too serious where it loses its charm. This movie portrays many themes and genres into one and plays them in a specific way. It's portrayed very well. When I first watched this movie I thought nothing much of it and just a simple movie about a light hearted guy doing his stuff but boy oh boy I was wrong in many ways. It turned out to be one of my favorite movies with its simple yet engaging story and how the movie slowly plays out. And I’m impressed by how well the writing, dialogue, story and the actors were in this movie. The ending was just something that left me wondering, what happens next? I absolutely love the direction in which this movie goes and it truly leaves a sense of mystery after you finish watching it.

The actors are what tend to carry and sell the movie to me. One of my favorite actors, Jim Carrey, is a walking cartoon character and full of energy in lots of his roles. And his role as Truman is no exception, he plays this light hearted, full of energy young man named “Truman Burbank'' and his acting sure does bring the character to life at its fullest. A nice mix of being both joyful and peaceful and once again, like a cartoon character. Later on though he tends to get more curious and serious from things he later finds out about which adds a ton of character development, instead of making him just a stale, happy, and joyful character, it's a character that later questions everything. I can relate to the movie in a way that I sometimes feel like I'm being watched every second. At first I thought aliens inside of my head just watched me as if I was their favorite tv show. But now that I'm older I realized that it was just a dumb little fantasy. The success of The Truman Show has earned many and has been nominated many times, and for good reasons as well. The movie’s unique story hooked many people and got them interested, including myself.

The Truman Show is a movie taken from an idea and done right. Being watched and not knowing about it. It's definitely a good recommendation for people who want to watch something new and different. Its unique plot will get people hooked just like how it got me hooked. Great acting and with its fantastic ending to end off a great movie, it's a must watch for anyone. Now after watching this movie, I question myself, Am I being watched?
