How important is your dream to you? Would you prevail through all the hardships that come your way or would you just give up along the way? Well if you choose the second option, then the movie The Hill may just change your way of thinking. It’s an inspiring movie that comes from the real rocky life of Rickey Hill.

This Sports, Thriller, PG movie just came out recently on August 25, 2023. The movie takes place in a small town in Texas and has some great actors starring Dennis Quaid and Colin Ford. Rickey Hill (Colin Ford), a middle child of 3 and a boy with a dream of playing professional baseball. But there are two obstacles, his body and his dad (Dennis Quiad). His dad was a traveling pastor who went from town to town to try and provide for his family. While Rickey was a boy who could hit about anything as long as it came his way. When they move to Oklahoma after getting evicted, Rickey gets challenged at a park to hit off of a pitcher. Years go by and Rickey is a senior and gets an injured leg in a game by tripping on a sprinkler. While going to the doctor he finds out that he has Degenerative Spine Disorder. As he's injured, he goes to a baseball camp to hopefully get noticed. But as they tell him to go home, he refuses and makes a bet. To hit every pitch from every pitcher.

Rickey Hill is a great person, not just in the movie but in real life too. But when I was watching it, I couldn't help but notice how real the father was. James Hill, is a pastor and is the one who provides for his family throughout the movie. He thought he knew what his son's destiny was, which was being a pastor like him. And I feel like this is real because in a lot of homes, parents are gonna think they know what's best for their child. I personally know some people whose parents tried to live out their sports dreams through their children. And some parents, like James, change their thoughts and learn sooner or later that it is not their life to live. Some people may not like this movie because of it having a religious type role in it, his fathers a pastor, so it only makes sense.

This movie is great for all ages, and for anyone with a dream. I only watched it once but I guarantee I'll watch it in the future to show my family what a great movie it was. And it got the Best Family Feature Film award earlier this year, so it's not a bad film to watch with your family either. I want to share this movie to the many people who feel like giving up on their dreams because the circumstances are too rough for them. Because one thing that The Hill has taught me most is to never give up, and to have a strong desire to achieve your dreams.

What inspired me to write a movie review on this was that it was an inspiring story. So I just wanted to share with people who didn't or are thinking about watching it, to do so. I've been dealing with injuries in my past that's been making me get farther from my dream, and I can just relate to the movie in those type of ways.
