Did you know that Kristen Stewart also auditioned to be Katniss? Even though I love Kristen Stewart I wouldn’t be able to imagine anyone else to play Katniss other than Jennifer Lawrence. I think Jennifer Lawrence is the only one that would be able to act out all of the gruesome scenes. The story starts in District 13, the underground district that was thought to be completely destroyed seventy-five years ago. Katniss is a symbol of rebellion, so President Coin wanted Katniss to be her mockingjay and lead the rebellion. But in the process of becoming the mockingjay, she has to go through some very hard training to prepare her for the upcoming challenges she has ahead of her. On her journey she has to make many decisions and sacrifices that affect all the people around her. Personally I think that the book was better than the movie. It had much more detail and that detail could create images in my head.

The book and the movie had a couple differences. One thing was that they kind of changed the personality of President Coin. In the book she is more controlling over everything, but in the movie her true personality isn’t showed as much. Another difference is that in the book Katniss forgets to pardon Annie. Although in the book she doesn’t forget to mention Annie in the pardon to President Coin. One more difference is that in the book they don’t talk about the rescue mission or go into detail about it, but in the movie they actually showed the rescue mission. I think that the actors for the movie were perfect. I can’t imagine the movie with any other characters. Although I was kind of surprised when I seen the camera girl with half her hair shaved off. Also I kind of imagined President Coin to look a little bit older. I think that the movie was left off at the perfect spot. It left us hanging and it wasn’t too early or too late where it would give it away. I think that leaving us hanging at Peeta being strapped to a bed and being crazy was a good place to end. If I didn’t read the book I think it would’ve been a great mystery, like what happened to him? Although I think that if they ended it when Peeta was choking out Katniss it would have been better and more of a mystery because everyone would be worried about Katniss and everyone is wondering what happens next.

If you had a choice to read the book first or watch the movie first I would recommend to read the book first because usually once you watch the movie you don’t really want to read the book anymore. Plus then you can compare the similarities and differences between the two of them like I just did.  This was the first time that I read the book first and it was a good experience. I think it was helpful to read the book first because then I could appreciate what the book had that the movie didn’t.
