U2 MAG

By Anonymous

Looking back through my tall stack of U2 CD's, I stumbled across the turning point of U2's musical career. In the CD's "Boy" and "October," U2 had made strong political statements and produced unique music unparalleled today. That all seemed to end after the production of "War."

"War" was U2 in its prime. It is unique, strong, and roars with the lively creative genius the Irish band used to possess. Songs like "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "New Year's Day" scream their strong messages into the ears of their listeners. Have you heard any message in "Mysterious Ways"? I doubt it. It's a pop song, a dance tune, a soon-to-be forgotten lyrical mess with a hip-hop beat. It's a shame. n
