The Deepest Scars
The deepest scars
Go deeper than skin
And they hurt much more
Since they’re buried within
They come from words
The ones filled with hate
They fall on you hard
Like the heaviest weight
They come from those people
The ones who aren’t right
They spit horrible things
Cruel words that kill your light
You try to run and hide
To protect your wounded heart
But these words always find you
And always tear you apart
The deepest scars
Make you as cold as ice
Make you hate much more
And become anything but nice
You try to fight
But this never works
You are no match
For the evil that lurks
It beats you down
When you try to attack
While the ice inside
Always holds you back
The deepest scars
Cause so much pain
They change your heart
And become your bane
No one will listen
When you call out and plead
They ignore all your cries
While you sit there and bleed
You can’t seem to escape
No matter how fast you run
And these buried scars
Make you come undone
