Brown with gold flecks,
Tail with blacked tipped feathers.
Scanning the ground slowly
She spots movement
A rabbit looking up at the wrong time
He spots the eagle
He pause
He bolts
The eagle plummets down to earth
In a steep dive
The rabbit looks back
She’s closing the gap between them
Tawny body shaking with exhaustion
He feels talons sinking between his shoulders
Then
Nothing.
